Europe is facing its biggest war since World War II, with Russia’s entirely unprovoked aggression against Ukraine being one of the least surprising things of all. Vladimir Putin has long held imperialist objectives, aiming to restore Russia’s unwanted and truly awful empire.
We have long warned of and dreaded this day, and that Putin wouldn’t stop at Georgia or Ukraine. I am of CEE (Central and Eastern European) descent and I know the evils of Communism and history of Russian aggression against the region. It is never to be forgiven or forgotten. Poland will always be one of the most outspoken against Russia’s hegemonic plans, and has a kinship with other nations in the region such as Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
But more to it, is the use of classic propaganda methods by Russia rooted in the Soviet era. Disinformation includes accusations that Ukraine is infested with “neo-Nazis” - a chillingly similar tactic used by Justin Trudeau’s government against truckers protesting in Canada. This is not the least bit surprising as it comes right out of the Soviet propaganda book.
Justin Trudeau is turning Canada into a police state. His latest move is yet another Orwellian “hate speech” law which makes freedom of expression nonexistent in Canada. This is a woke Left fantasy which many progressives elsewhere dream of. And it’s no surprise as decades of Soviet propaganda created progressivism with multiculturalism, postcolonialism, indigenism, identity politics and “Western guilt” complexes.
All of which was designed to cripple the West, leading to this dreadful day. If you ever studied the history of the Cold War and Communism, you can connect the dots.
