The polls in Britain consistently show Reform UK in the lead. This was not surprising given the incompetence of the Starmer Labour government, and the similar incompetence of the official opposition Conservatives. But what might surprise people is how well Reform UK is doing in Scotland and Wales.
Surprise? Both Scotland and Wales have long been seen as bastions of Leftist politics. Indeed, devolution has allowed the creation of a Woke bureaucratic state Democrats can only dream of. Just see here for some of the bizarre ideas concocted in Wales.
In the recent Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election to the Scottish Parliament, Reform UK finished a strong third as Labour won the seat from the SNP. Currently the SNP leads the polls, while Reform UK is the biggest unionist party. Similarly, polls in Wales are now suggesting a two-horse race between Reform UK and Plaid Cymru - in short a consolidated polarisation of anti-Woke and Woke votes respectively.
The rise of Reform UK in Scotland and Wales is one of the most damning indictment of post-devolution political failures. The elites of these jurisdictions sought devolution to build their own power bases. Having been given their power, and have abused it, and seeing the utter uselessness of established political options, a backlash was inevitable.
