The Islamic Republic's imperialism has turned Lebanon into a wasteland
Destitution and isolation the price to pay for a "cause"
Recently, Lebanese cabinet minister George Kordahi insulted Saudi Arabia, which is not too surprising given his political allegiances. Even less surprising was the reaction of GCC states such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait - all of whom have moved to cut ties with Lebanon.
Actually, such a move was a long time in the making. The GCC states and their allies have decided that Lebanon isn’t worth “saving” in so far as any assistance rendered to that country is assistance to an irredeemably corrupt, venal, self-serving and above all else treasonous elite. As with Syria which occupied Lebanon for three decades, Lebanon is a failed state which needs a comprehensive reconstruction at all levels.
In fact, neither Lebanon nor Syria can be considered sovereign countries, but rather as colonies of the Islamic Republic regime in Iran. A regime which brandishes “anti-imperialist” credentials has waged its own imperialist wars in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Gaza. The tragedies of these countries are the result of retarded ideologies and false prophets, which have forced their populace to suffer and die for the “cause” - whatever “cause” that may be.
Whatever the ideology - Baathist, Islamist or anything else - the result is always the same in that lawless gangsters take over every aspect of national life and define the country’s identity. The ability to build a civil state based on rule of law is thus severely hampered.
It doesn’t have to be this way. The Abraham Accords showed the way forward, and now is time more than ever for people in the region and beyond to complete the final piece of the puzzle - which is only possible when they support the liberation struggle of the Iranian people.
