The hypocrisy of Poland's enemies
European Parliament scandal lays bare the cost of virtue signalling
Nobody should be surprised. A scandal has hit the European Parliament and it’s exactly as we’ve called it: the liberal elites who think they’re so virtuous by bashing proud nations like Hungary and Poland, that they’ve been willing to accept money from regimes like Qatar.
Of course, I’m sure the same people will accept funds from Russia, the Islamic Republic regime in Iran and Turkey to pad their lifestyles and allow Europe to overlook their atrocities. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
Their attacks on Poland also help Russian propagandists in their quest to exploit the West’s weaknesses and lack of consensus on identity and values. If anything, it should alert CEE nations as to who their friends and enemies are.
