The Cult of Madness and Pahlavi Derangement Syndrome
Proponents of unwanted charter remain in a delusional state
A year after the unwanted “charter” was unveiled with an attempt to impose it on the people of Iran, many of its proponents are more deranged than ever, attacking the Pahlavi family and Iranian monarchists in ever more vicious terms.
Joining them most recently has been Alireza Nader, previously of FDD and NUFDI, but now openly attacking monarchists and blocking anyone who dares to criticise him. What it does confirm is something people have been suspicious of for a long time: that he’s simply an opportunist, and his departure from NUFDI has been followed by openly turning against Iranian patriots, and falling into line with the Cult of Madness.
The Cult of Madness (Persian: فرقه جنون) are mainly supporters of Masih Alinejad, Hamed Esmaeilion and various leftist and ethnic separatist movements whose anti-Pahlavi, anti-monarchist rhetoric has become indistinguishable from that of Islamic Republic regime propaganda, or the MEK cult.
Their derangement is because they have no real platform or vision for Iran, beyond magical thinking that Iran can morph into a Western-style progressive democracy in a region like the Middle East, and ignoring the very unpromising records of republics in the region compared to monarchies.
The overwhelmingly successful calls for boycotting the regime’s sham “parliamentary election” has been strongly associated with monarchist activism, and this is something even the Times has acknowledged.
None of the figures associated with Georgetown and the charter have a popular base comparable to monarchists, nor do they offer a constructive alternative. As said above, they rely on magical thinking based on delusions that talking and acting like liberal Americans will bring them support and bring down the regime quickly. And not because their ideas offer any benefit to Iran and the region.
Only monarchists have a clear idea of what they want for Iran, and a clear understanding of the culture and conditions of the region which makes a monarchy the only choice for the people of Iran.
