The SPLC’s smears continue to have a detrimental effect on public discourse, this time accusing Newsweek Opinion Editor Josh Hammer (who is Jewish) of supporting “white nationalism”. Not the first time they’ve made such baseless claims either, of course.
It goes without saying that nobody should take what the SPLC says seriously at all. It is a corrupt partisan smear machine making a total mockery of its “nonprofit” status. It’s one of the wealthiest nonprofits around, with a massive slush fund outside the USA. Furthermore, it’s long been exposed as an abusive organisation whose founder Morris Dees’ conduct and toxic work culture was long an open secret in Alabama.
Its main gimmick, the infamous “hate groups” list is first and foremost libelous, attacking Christians and conservatives, and extremely shoddy due to the inflation of imagined threats on the list.
This is how the SPLC operates. They need to inflate an imagined “white supremacy” threat, and the “hate groups” list they put out each year has been designed to do that. I dare you to go through the list of “white nationalist”, neo-Nazi, KKK, skinhead and even “black nationalist” groups (which they no longer categorise) and pinpoint which ones can be taken seriously.
You honestly can’t, which is why the SPLC’s claims can never be taken seriously. How many “white nationalist” groups have any kind of real organisational structure or presence beyond a few losers? The old bogeys, namely, KKK, neo-Nazis and racist skinheads, are essentially moribund movements. And black racist groups? Apart from the Nation of Islam (perhaps the largest and best-organised hate group of any stripe) and some Black Hebrew groups, they’re not much chop either.
In fact, most people may not be aware they’ve been sold a lie that “white supremacy” constitutes the biggest threat to their lives, which is really a threat inflation to justify the extension of a police state and fundraising for NGOs. And, of course, Hollywood. I’m sure in Australia we’ll be blackmailed into supporting the “Voice” using these same scare tactics. It always goes that way.
It’s the same lie, btw, Russian state propaganda also uses to justify ongoing genocide in Ukraine.
