Listen to the Iranian people. It's long ovrerdue
How appeasement of Islamic Republic regime is endangering the Iranian Diaspora - and world peace
I hate to be seen as someone belabouring on the same old points. But that’s because those who ignore the past are destined to repeat it, because the more you don’t listen the more we can say “I told you so”.
Enough examples have been shown in the past couple of years to prove that appeasement of the Islamic Republic regime in Iran, with whom some kind of deal is sought, by the Biden Administration and European governments is clearly endangering the safety of the Iranian Diaspora worldwide and also the Free World. The attack on Salman Rushdie on American soil is just the latest example.
The Iranian Diaspora are much like the Eastern European Diasporas in that they abhor tyranny and attacks on free speech, which comes from the Western Left and their Islamist allies. But in the Cold War, Eastern Europeans believed they had firm support from many Western political leaders in the struggle against Communism.
Unfortunately, the same support is not given to the Iranian opposition in their struggle against the regime. Michael Rubin outlined in his recent article that the three strategies he says are guaranteed to backfire are supporting the MEK, encouraging ethnic division, and endless diplomacy. If you want to end the “endless wars” in the region, this is not the way.
The appalling behaviour of people like Israeli diplomat George Deek, egged on by dubious “analysts” like Brenda Shaffer, Mordechai Kedar, Rachel Avraham and Mike Doran, only further entrenches a sense of alienation among anti-regime Iranians worldwide. So does the endless stream of Western politicians endorsing the MEK despite all available evidence warning them against ever doing so. Furthermore, ethnic activists have also made common cause with radical Left causes, ironically the same source of support for the regime.
My own encounters with Doran and Rubin, both of whom worked for the Bush Administration in some capacity (in the Department of Defense), reveal two very different people. Michael Rubin is an outstanding figure, a very kind, honest and honourable person who took time to respond to me personally, and is one of the most objective commentators on foreign policy issues today. Doran, on the other hand, is one of the vilest and most dishonourable public figures I’ve come across - he engenders bigotry against Armenians and Kurds as he’s in service of Erdogan and Aliyev, and he encourages ethnic division in Iran which explains how someone like Ahmad Hashemi could get into the Hudson Institute.
But you get my point. The latest statements you see above show that Iranian people really have had enough - they want you to listen and they want your support to overthrow this regime and remove the principal threat to peace in the region and the world.
Enough is enough!
