Iranian people are more united than ever. The world must support them.
Address to Iranian people well received by patriots
The address of Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi to the Iranian people emphasised the unity of the Iranian people in the struggle against the regime. The latest in the wave of Iranian protests which began at the end of 2017 has seen Iranians more determined than ever before to bring down the regime, and a belief that there is a better chance than ever of doing so.
Most important is unity of purpose among opponents of the Islamic Republic regime and to outline a concrete program for the overthrow of the regime and the establishment of governance for Iran on the day the regime is overthrown. The most popular and only viable option is the return of constitutional monarchy on the basis of the 1906 constitution. Also important is bringing the message to the world, although it is also emphasised that Iranians must help themselves first.
Reza Pahlavi has said that he would not waste time on people who are still part of the problem. This can be interpreted by opposition activists as a criticism of those who have profited from division and antagonism among Iranian people which has hindered the struggle against regime. The call for unity is desirable and necessary, but it has limitations which have been fully exposed in the response to the Crown Prince’s address.
Iranians will never forgive those who helped bring Islamists to power, and will never tolerate those who aim to promote hate and division among them. Besides the universally despised MEK cult and the regime lobbyists, there are also ethnic activists, and others who have placed themselves in opposition to Reza Pahlavi and his supporters. There are also people who can be described as fake opposition, who have been working against the opposition cause while posing as opposition. None of these are worth anyone’s time.
In fact, the furious response of the anti-Pahlavi crowd including ethnic activists underlines precisely that. They resent that Reza Pahlavi is the most popular and only viable and unifying national leader, and that a return to constitutional monarchy is the only viable course for Iran when the regime is overthrown. They of course fail to understand that a constitutional monarchy is in fact the fairest and most inclusive form of government ever devised.
The anger of Reza Pahlavi’s enemies is because they have failed. They have failed even with the backing of corrupt politicians, lobbies and think tanks, who have failed to impose their will on the Iranian people. Politicians such as Mike Pompeo have disgraced themselves by addressing the MEK on three occasions, while lobbyists like Mike Doran and Brenda Shaffer have been employed by Hudson Institute and FDD while being allied with forces aiming to divide Iran on ethnic lines.
And yet, these enemies of Reza Pahlavi and all patriotic Iranians have failed, a failure underlined by the success of the Crown Prince’s address. And they will fail to determine the course of Iran once the regime is overthrown.
I am privileged to know many fine patriotic Iranian activists and am proud to support their admirable work towards liberating their country. All of you should do the same, in the interests of world peace and prosperity. There is no other choice.
